SaskBooks congratulates Thistledown Press, U of R Press, and Your Nickel’s Worth Publishing for their wins at the Saskatchewan Book Awards. The 27th Saskatchewan Book Awards ceremony was hosted online on June 18th, 2020. Three members of SaskBooks were honoured, for a total of six awards.
When We Had Sled Dogs, from Your Nickel’s Worth Publishing, took home the awards for Children’s Literature and Publishing in Education. Thistledown Press was recognized with an award for This Hole called January in the Poetry category. And finally, U of R Press took home three distinctions: the Indigenous Peoples’ Publishing Award, for In My Own Moccasins; the Publishing Award, for Black Writers Matter; and the Scholarly Writing Award, for Back to Blakeney.
SaskBooks would also like to congratulate Jason Heit and D.M. Ditson, whose winning titles were published by Coteau Books. Coteau has consistently been recognized for its award-winning books, and for the contributions it has made as one of the foundation publishers of the Saskatchewan publishing industry.
SaskBooks would like to thank all the nominated publishers and writers for their contributions to our community, and would like to thank the Saskatchewan Book Awards for hosting the ceremony despite the uncertainty caused by COVID-19.
